In his four decades of service with the Associated Press, Greene has covered everything from Grand Slam events to junior tournaments. During that time he has written about many of the great players well before they were household names -- players like Arthur Ashe and Jimmy Connors.

 CAPITAL AREA TENNIS FOUNDATION (CATF)

This will be the first year that the tournament will officially have a charitable foundation. The CATF was accepted by the Board of Directors as a charitable project by the National Heritage Foundation on 3/21/2006 and therefore shares their nonprofit 501 (c)(3), 509 (a)(1) federal tax status (Tax ID Number 58-2085326). All donations to CATF are tax deductible and can be made payable to Capital Area Tennis Foundation.

In the past the tournament has made charitable contributions to the Montgomery County Wheelchair Association and has supported inner city youths. The CATF was founded to achieve the following goals:

  • To provide the area with high caliber tennis championships;
  • To organize the USTA National Boys’ 18 & 16 Clay Court Championships;
  • To create an environment for student athletes to become informed about the college scholarship opportunities available to them;
  • To provide NCAA college tennis coaches the means to efficiently and effectively recruit potential student athletes;
  • To involve community members in volunteer positions;
  • To partner with the corporate community in the operation of The Clay Courts; and
  • To make a contribution out of the profits from The Clay Courts to a charitable organization that promotes opportunities for local, area children.

If you want to make a donation, please make the check payable to Capital Area Tennis Foundation and send it to the following address:

 PLAYER BIO AND COLLEGE BIO BOOK

Due to the advent of TennisRecruiting.net, the Player Bio Book and the College Bio Book are superfluous.

 TENNISRECRUITING.NET

TennisRecruiting.net is a great way for you to market yourself to college coaches in the United States. Even if you are only a freshman or sophomore, you should start paying attention to tennis recruiting -- since college coaches tell us that they often look at talent several years in advance. TennisRecruiting.net has a set of web pages for more than 100,000 junior players worldwide -- for every junior who has played in a top-tier USTA or ITF tournament. These web pages include basic player information, tournament results, and rankings by graduation class. And these web pages are used today by U.S. college coaches at all levels to identify recruiting targets!
